GTA VI launches November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Here is the latest on trailers, pre-orders, prices, preload dates and gameplay.
As of September 6, 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI is on track for a November 19, 2026 release. Rockstar Games has opened pre-orders, published a new Extended Look presentation and confirmed the game for current-generation consoles only.
The launch platforms are PlayStation 5, including PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced versions for PC, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. That means players on older consoles should not expect to play GTA VI without upgrading their hardware.
The game returns to Vice City, but this time the setting expands across the fictional state of Leonida. The story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a criminal couple pulled into a conspiracy after an apparently simple score goes wrong.
The official release date is November 19, 2026. The date applies to both Canada and the United States, with digital storefronts and retailers expected to follow their usual local launch procedures.
Digital pre-orders are available through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store and Rockstar Store, as well as select retailers. Digital buyers can begin pre-loading on November 12, 2026, at local midnight, giving players a seven-day window to download the game before launch.
Physical buyers should pay close attention to the packaging. Rockstar says the physical version includes a download code rather than a game disc. Physical copies are scheduled to be available beginning November 12 to support pre-loading, although retailer delivery and pickup timing can vary.
In the United States, the PlayStation Store lists the Standard Edition at US$79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at US$99.99. In Canada, the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store list the Standard Edition at CA$109.99 and the Ultimate Edition at CA$139.99.
Prices can change by retailer, and taxes are added at checkout. The Ultimate Edition Upgrade is also listed separately for players who buy the Standard Edition and decide to upgrade later.

Rockstar and the platform stores describe GTA VI as a current-generation game. PlayStation specifically states that it will not be playable on PS4. There is no official PC release date, system-requirements list or PC pre-order listing at this time.
On PS5, the game is listed as PS5 Pro Enhanced and supports features including fast loading, 3D audio, DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Xbox Series X|S players can expect an optimized current-generation version, but Rockstar has not published a detailed Xbox feature comparison.

The newest official video is Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, which premiered on Netflix and became available through Rockstar’s official YouTube channel and GTA VI website on August 27, 2026. Rockstar says the presentation was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.
Rockstar’s official GTA VI media page now lists three major videos:
The Extended Look gives players a closer view of Leonida’s environments, characters, vehicles and everyday activity. It also reinforces the game’s shift between dense urban areas, beaches, waterways, rural locations and the Leonida Keys.
There is no officially announced date for another numbered trailer after the Extended Look. Rockstar has released short character and location clips, but players should treat social-media rumours about a fourth trailer as unconfirmed unless the announcement appears through Rockstar’s official channels.

Jason and Lucia are the central characters, and the story is built around their partnership. Rockstar’s description suggests a relationship-driven crime narrative rather than a simple solo rise through the criminal world.
Lucia is presented as an experienced and determined character who has already spent time in prison. Jason is described as someone trying to build a better life while working around criminals, local dealers and an unpredictable underworld. Their choices bring them into a wider conspiracy across Leonida.
Vice City is back, but GTA VI is not limited to the city itself. The fictional state of Leonida includes coastal areas, wetlands, small communities, highways, islands and other regions that appear designed to make travel and exploration a major part of the experience.
Expect a world built around water as much as roads. Official footage shows boats, aircraft, motorcycles, sports cars and off-road vehicles, while the trailers highlight nightlife, social-media-style videos, wildlife and crowded public spaces.
Current official store listings describe GTA VI as a single-player experience. Rockstar has not announced GTA VI Online details, a separate multiplayer mode or a multiplayer launch date.
That does not confirm that online features will never arrive, but it does mean players should not pre-order based on assumptions about a GTA Online successor. The officially promoted launch product is the single-player game.
The game’s North American rating is still pending. Based on the series’ established style and the content shown so far, players should expect violence, profanity, criminal activity and mature themes, but the final ESRB rating and content descriptors have not yet been published.
Pre-orders and purchases made before November 20, 2026, include the Vintage Vice City Pack. The pack includes a 1955 Vapid Stanier Sedan and garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern.
Digital pre-orders also include one month of GTA+. The subscription offer must be redeemed separately and can continue as a paid subscription if it is not cancelled before the renewal date. Players should check the redemption instructions on their platform account instead of assuming the month will activate automatically.
The Standard Edition includes the base game and pre-order benefits. The Ultimate Edition includes the game, the Ultimate Edition Upgrade and the Vintage Vice City Pack. Rockstar also lists the Ultimate Edition Upgrade as a separate purchase for Standard Edition owners.
For now, the clearest buying decision is straightforward: players who want GTA VI at launch need a PS5, PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X|S. Anyone waiting for PC, PS4, Xbox One or multiplayer information will need to wait for a separate official announcement.
