Check Canada benefit payment dates for 2026, including CPP, OAS, CCB, CGEB and Ontario Trillium Benefit, then learn what to do when a payment is late.

Start with the official Government of Canada benefits calendar, then match the payment to the program that actually sends it. CPP, OAS, GIS and related pension payments are administered by Service Canada. Benefits such as the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB), Alberta Child and Family Benefit and Ontario Trillium Benefit are administered through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
The calendar gives the scheduled issue date. Your bank may post a direct deposit later, while a mailed cheque can take longer. The government advises waiting 5 to 10 business days before contacting the program about a payment that has not arrived.

These are the main dates many households are checking in 2026. The full calendar includes additional programs, including disability and veterans’ benefits.
| Program | 2026 dates still ahead after September 29 | Who administers it |
|---|---|---|
| CPP retirement, disability, children’s and survivor benefits | October 28, November 26, December 22 | Service Canada |
| OAS, GIS, Allowance and Allowance for the Survivor | October 28, November 26, December 22 | Service Canada |
| Canada Child Benefit | October 20, November 20, December 11 | CRA |
| Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit | October 5 | CRA |
| Ontario Trillium Benefit | October 9, November 10, December 10 | CRA |
| Alberta Child and Family Benefit | November 27 | CRA |
| Advanced Canada Workers Benefit | October 9 | CRA |
For reference, the 2026 CPP and OAS payment was scheduled for September 25, while the September CCB date was September 18. Ontario Trillium Benefit was scheduled for September 10. If you’re checking a payment from an earlier month, compare the date with the official calendar rather than relying on a social media post or a third-party benefits list.
The Canada Carbon Rebate is closed. The calendar shows its final listed 2025 dates, so a missing 2026 Canada Carbon Rebate payment is not normally a late payment that you should continue waiting for.
Use My Service Canada Account (MSCA) to view CPP and OAS payment information, application status and some personal details. MSCA can also help you confirm whether a payment has been issued and whether your direct deposit information needs attention.
Sign in to My Service Canada AccountUse CRA My Account for benefits administered by the CRA. For the CCB, the account can show your next expected payment date and amount, payment history, statement of account and application status. Similar CRA records are used for other tax-based benefits and credits.
Check the description on your bank statement, previous notice or CRA account. “Government payment” is too general to troubleshoot. CPP and OAS use a different account and contact route from CCB, CGEB and OTB.
Make sure you’re looking at the right year and the right benefit. Some dates move because the usual payment day falls on a weekend or holiday. The CCB, for example, is generally paid on the 20th, but the date can move earlier. Ontario Trillium Benefit dates also change from month to month when the 10th falls on a non-business day.
For CRA programs, open the relevant benefit section in CRA My Account. For CPP or OAS, check MSCA. If the account shows that the payment was issued, review your bank account carefully, including any account with a different name or number than the one you usually monitor.
Many CRA benefits depend on tax information. You generally need to file an income tax and benefit return every year to receive or continue receiving benefits and credits. A late or unprocessed return can delay a payment or change the amount.
Also check your address, marital status, custody information, family income details and banking information. A change that has not been reported can cause a payment to stop, change or be redirected. If the CRA asked you to provide documents, respond to the request; failing to provide information can lead to child and family benefit payments stopping.
Review the official CRA guidance for stopped or changed benefitsFor a CCB payment, the CRA says to wait five business days after the expected date before contacting it. For the broader benefits calendar, the government advises allowing five to 10 business days, especially when a cheque is involved.
For example, the 2026 CGEB date is October 5. If you use direct deposit and the payment does not appear after the applicable waiting period, check CRA My Account before calling. A mailed cheque may take longer to arrive.
Use the official Government of Canada direct deposit service to set up or change banking information. If you receive several government payments, you may need to update more than one department. Do not close your old bank account until the change has been processed and a payment reaches the new account.
Set up or change Government of Canada direct depositFor CRA programs, update information through CRA My Account where the service is available. CPP and OAS recipients can manage relevant information through MSCA or contact Service Canada. Keep your SIN, recent payment details and banking information available, but never share passwords or one-time security codes with someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
For CCB and related child and family benefits, contact the CRA at 1-800-387-1193. Have your SIN, children’s information and details from previous benefit payments ready for identity verification.
Contact the Canada Child BenefitFor CPP, OAS, GIS and related pension questions, contact Service Canada at 1-800-277-9914 from Canada or the United States. Operator hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., local time. An automated service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Contact the Canada Pension PlanThe safest next step is to identify the benefit, check the correct official account and compare the payment with the current calendar. If the account does not explain the missing money after the required waiting period, use the program’s official contact channel rather than responding to an unsolicited text, email or social media message.
